HB City Manager Travis Hopkins

Travis Hopkins, who had been the acting city manager, first joined City Hall in 2006 and was the public works director. 

In 2019, Hopkins became the assistant city manager and, last November, the council asked him to fill in as the acting city manager.

Hopkins began working for the city in 2006 as a civil engineer, rising through the ranks to become public works director (2007–2019), then assistant city manager.  He served as acting city manager starting in November 2024 before his permanent appointment. Key details of his role include:

  • Contract duration: Four years, beginning March 15, 2025
  • Education: Bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Idaho; Master of Public Administration from Cal State Long Beach
  • Professional credentials: Registered civil engineer in California 

Hopkins, a longtime resident who moved to Huntington Beach in 1992, emphasized his commitment to community unity and stability in leadership. His 2025 appointment ends over a year without a permanent city manager and marks a return to administrative continuity.
